TXST Scholarships for Women in STEM

Most College of Science and Engineering scholarships are located in the Bobcat Online Scholarship System (BOSS). Students will be asked to fill out a conditional application for all scholarships in the College of Science and Engineering. The conditional application includes (but is not limited to) a personal essay, resume, letters of reference, unofficial Degree Audit, and unofficial transcript.

Note:

  • Students may be automatically matched and applied to scholarships if they meet the requirements and no additional application requirements need to be met.
  • Students may also be directed to apply for scholarships where they meet the basic requirements, but that have additional application requirements.

  • Gwen and Weldon Durrenberger shared fond memories of their college days. Because of this love and his deep love for his wife, Gwen, Weldon made a gift of property to Texas State University. Both Weldon and Gwen had exciting careers in the sciences. Weldon wanted to create a lasting memory for Gwen and at the same time assist students who were pursuing a degree in one of the sciences, technology or engineering. This property gift has been developed into the Gwen S. Durrenberger Endowment for Women in Science.

    General Information:

    • Successful candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD degree in one of the majors in the College of Science and Engineering.
    • Candidates can apply for the award or be nominated
    • Award Amount: Awards are $1000 to $6000 to be credited towards recipient's tuition and fees and is based on classification (i.e., undergraduate, current MS and PhD students, and entering PhD students).
    • Apply through the BOSS system

  • This scholarship was established in 2016 by Wendy Griggs and Monique Mounce, PharmD.

    General information:

    • Students must be sophomore or junior undergraduates enrolled full time in the College of Science and Engineering
    • Students must be pre-pharmacy, pre-medicine, or pre-dental
    • Female students are preferred
    • Must have demonstrated financial need as verified by their FAFSA
    • Apply through the BOSS system

  • This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior student majoring in the College of Science and Engineering, with preference given to women. 

    General Information:

    • Applicants must be fulltime students with a minimum Texas State GPA of 3.00 and have at least 60 hours by August 12 of the current year.
    •  In order to receive the award, the successful applicant must remain a full-time student in the College of Science and Engineering.
    • Award Amount: The amount of the award will be $400 to be credited towards the recipient's tuition/fees.

  • GCPA is proud of our women in the electric power industry outreach program – emPOWERing Women, originally launched in 2013. In keeping with GCPA’s emphasis on providing superior educational and networking opportunities for our diverse membership, an increased focus on encouraging and empowering the development of women in our industry is a critical and logical next step in our industry outreach programming. emPOWERing Women will:

    • Actively offer opportunities for support, development and networking to women currently working in the electric power industry; and
    • Proactively encourage and inspire younger women pursuing technical degrees to consider careers in the electric power arena.

    General Information:

    • US Citizen or foreign national with permanent residency
    • Preference for students specializing in electric power industry-related fields of study
    • Preference for students pursuing majors in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology – Electrical Specialization
    •  Preference for female student
    • Preference for sophomore and those finishing the first year of their post-graduate degree
    • Apply through the BOSS system.
